Oracle work in process was unable to find an open acccounting period
The inventory period is open but I am still getting this error message

I am trying to create a JOB with starting date in Sep only. Sep is on open period.
I guess It does not matter the start date of the period. It can be in open or future but the released date should be in an open period
What do you mean by period is open...You might have many open periods but the period (oct 2011) should be open to create a job..you cant even create a job if its in future period.

The solution is as provided in the previous post. Check the released date in Job history and make sure that period is open.
Job is in Unreleased status. I am trying release the job that's when I am getting this error. There is no history for this job. We were able to release the similar jobs but some of them we are having this issue. Please let me know if you wanted me to check anything else. Really appreciate your help. Thanks Prasad

In status put release and press tab in your key board.
Dont try to save the record but just move to the job history tab.
Check the released date populated by system.
That date should be in an open period.
remember u need to check the date before saving the record.
I am sure its just the period issue. the inventory period is not open..nothing else
Try to give the Release date as open period date then change the status then cange the status as "Release" then press the tab after that save the transaction. Let me know if it doesnot work. Raghunandana

The release date field is not editable. System doent allows entering any value in the field and I think it’s accepting today’s date only (like the server date).
Is there any set up or profile to make this field updatable?
